Failure is always the best way to learn,
Retracing your steps until you know,
Have no fear your wounds will heal.

We are not always lucky and accepting the truth is hurt sometimes. We are tough people but not every person is ready to face what is bad to minds. We can choose to carry on and let it go or feeling devastated and stressed over it.

Since this pandemic happens, there are plenty of people who try their luck on getting a job and they are succeded also there are people who failed but still work their butts on.

I seem like, have been applying for more than 200 job applications. It may sound pathetic. But I am not surprised by it and still trying for the best. I am tired of crying out loud in my bedroom just because I received a lot of rejection letters and to cope with it, I focus on myself, let it go, and always practice for the best.

If you and I both have the same path right now, then we don’t have to be embarrassed about it even though this feeling actually irritates us, well, we need to fight it and stop feeling ashamed of it.

I used to think that I was a foolish girl who never passed the job interview. But, if I think of this frequently, it will only make me stressed. Then, I stopped feeling sorry for myself and I thought that I was unique more than anyone else. I may be not a smart person but I am sure God has a great plan for me better than this.

I am not a being a professional advisor here since I give you somewhat insight that will help you pass the job interview. This is what I do: collecting all articles about this and sharing this with others about my personal writing. I like helping people who are still struggling with getting a job. So, I share what I have been through this year.

Nervous and panic will ruin a job interview

Starting a job interview with nervousness or even panic would kill us. It makes us less confident and the HR would not be impressed with answers that are halting and less convincing.

So, the best way to cope with this is to prepare before the day. By preparing for an interview will allow us to face with confidence knowing exactly what to expect and knowing exactly how to answer any interview questions in a way that will impress them.

We need to take action seriously such as practice our vocal in front of a mirror or record ourselves so we know what needs to improve. When a job interview is ongoing, sit straight and keep your hands down during the job interview and do not play your finger with a pen, it’s a big no. The important you should do is do make eye contact, it will make you look serious and professional.

Prepare from any source

Don’t be stuck at the moment that sometimes we can’t figure out. Doing research about job interview before it started is a big yes. We can conduct deep research on many platforms such as:

  • Linkedin, there are professional Linkedin users who also shared their tips.
  • Youtube, usually HRs are happy to provide direction through this platform.
  • Google, the first source of all.
  • People we know who succeeded to get their job so that might help us in giving opinions and sharing their stories about a job interview.
  • Twitter. In Indonesia, Twitter is also used as a place for online sharing namely a job seeker base account. The followers can get various kinds of information about applying for a job.

Don’t Memorize An Answer

What we fear of losing job interviews is because we are afraid of giving an answer and we want the answer to be perfect.

We never know and expect what the interview questions going to be. Memorizing interview answers may seem useless, let alone, if what we memorized a thousand times does not match what happened in the field, It can result in your mind going blank which many people find difficult to recover from in interviews.

Feeling confident is the key to success. We can give impressive answers that demonstrate the extent to which you will excel in the role.

Research!

The important thing before we go for a job interview is doing research about the company and the job description we head to. By preparing to research the company, we can give impressive answers that demonstrate the extent to which we will excel in the role.

“Any questions for us?” is the hardest question ever

The candidate who almost at the finish of a job interview will usually be asked a question “any question for us?”. Let’s be honest, this question is basically make us confused because, on one hand, we are afraid that the question is too general but on the other hand the question is too extreme even though we are not sure if we are accepted or not, for example, “What benefits do I get?” or “How much is my estimated salary if I work at this company?”.

Actually, there is no wrong whether we should giving them a question or not but it would be better if we ask them a question. Asking questions for HR will actually see us how active we are and how enthusiastic we are to work in their company. If your mind is stuck about what to ask, you can try asking “do you have any feedback about my interview?” This simple question can help you improve in the next opportunities and HR absolutely will give you insight or tips for it.

OMG! I STILL KEEP MAKING A MISTAKE, WHAT SHOULD I DO?! I will never get a job?

Dear friend, no one is perfect but asking for feedback is everyone's suggestion. From there, we will learn and understand what should we need to improve. If you failed again it is best that you forget what is stressing you out and keep continue applying. I always think like this, come to that place, work on it, and forget about it, for the most important result, I have done my best and let God do the rest. I have put in greater effort.

I hope this writing will be useful for us all in this pandemic era. Don’t lose hope and keep trying again!
